INTRODUCTION Germ cells tumours (GCT), from which testicular cancers account for 95%, are the most common solid malignancies affecting males between the age of 15 and 35 (1). Due to the use of platinum based chemotherapy, outcome for patients with metastatic GCT has improved significantly during the last 30 years with cure rates approaching 80%. However, about 20% of the patients progress after such a chemotherapy regimen, requiring salvage treatment (2).
